The intention of the December 30th Proclamation in Radio Buea was never to overthrow Prince Ndoki Mukete. Ndoki Mukete did in fact sign the text of the Proclamation of the Restoration of the Sovereign Independence of the Federal Democratic Republic of the Southern Cameroons but said that he would not be a party to the takeover of Radio Buea for several reasons notably;
-The plot had leaked or had been leaked;
- He did not trust some of his collaborators;
He then left on a FECAFOOT Assignment to Ghana in preparations for the then African Nation's Cup. Members of Ebong's group have often accused Prince Ndoki Mukete of being more interested in FECAFOOT money than the struggle. Ndoki's hidden agenda was his clear interest in La Republique's FECAFOOT and all the lucrative prebends offered to the vice chairman of FECAFOOT ahead of the African nations Cup. It is even alleged that those prebends were made more enticing considering what was happening in Buea and Limbe after December 30th 1999.
Dr Yongbang is very correct that Justice Ebong was obsessed about starting something before the new millennium; however, some other traditional rites undertaken by a "strong" traditional ruler from the North West province conditioned that obsession. Throughout 1999, REHCCO, SCARM, and the strategic committee had the blueprint to take over the radio IN BAMENDA and BUEA and broadcast the restoration of independence speech.
The critical question was: WHO WOULD LEAD the takeover of Radio Buea and consequently the struggle? The Chief of CLASSIFIED was brought in to perform the tradition rites that would secrete a leader from a tiny pack made up of: Justice Ebong, Ndoki Mukete, SN Tita, Dr Yongbang, and CLASSIFIED. The Chief buried some LIFE COCKS identifying the various leaders in the ground and left them there for one week. Ndoki's cock died, Dr Yongbang's cock died, SN Tita's cock came out alive, and Ebong's cock came out alive. The land had spoken so Ebong made legitimate claims to leadership. It is also reported that another traditional rites done by the same persons who, through traditional rites, caused Biya to release Ebong suggested that Ebong would take over the radio but he will not be the LEADER of SOUTHERN CAMEROONS.
ALL ANGLOPHONE STAFF working at the station at the time facilitated the taking over of radio Buea on December 30th 1999. These "Southern Cameroonians" including a famous sports caster "11Th Province" were so enthused by the very idea that they showed Ebong's men what to do to broadcast their recorded tape. CRTV technicians even broadcast and rebroadcast the RESTORATION TAPE MANY TIMES. The then station manager CLASSIFIED, who claims to be a staunch CPDM militant made the takeover easy by "mysteriously and suddenly disappearing from the station. But he was aware of the operation. This goes to tell the world; once more, that blood is thicker than water. When push comes to shove as it is already happening all Anglophones, even Peter Mafany Musonge will cross the bridge when the Mungo BRIDGE is SEVERED permanently.
The tape containing the Proclamation of the Restoration of the Sovereign Independence of the Southern Cameroons was taken to Bamenda sometime after December 30th. The messenger suggested to the Bamenda Group that they should also take over RADIO BAMENDA and cause the broadcast of the message. Headed by a seasoned SCARM member, a RETIRED SOLDIER, the idea was rejected. Mbinglo Hitler et al, who had no idea what was happening, were granting "large and grand" interviews to the press saying that the government was lying and nobody even took over Radio Buea.
Also, the current SCNC Chairman, Chief Ayamba, was not arrested and shipped to Kondengui on January 9th 2000 because he was a direct participant in the takeover of Radio Buea. He was arrested because he was running his mouth in the "quartiers" following the March to Mungo bridge organized by Ebong's group between the 7th and the 9th of January 2000.
Actually, the SCNC, SCARM, and all separatist units have worked on the text of the formal Independence Declaration of Southern Cameroons-on-Ambas. Many of the draftsmen (some of the finest minds in the struggle) were miffed with Ebong that he did not use the GENUINE text. Justice Ebong has since said that such things never go according to the original script. The American Declaration of Independence, for example, had to be upgraded later.
